Reconstruction Works Complete

Following fire damage in 2015, our client, Bestway Group asked Cornish Architects to assist in the preparation of tender documentation and then to work with the selected contractor on the reinstatement of the two retail units, and nine residential flats. Engineer – Conisbee assessed the structural aspects and Services Consultant – Mendick Waring prepared proposals for reinstatement of services installations.

The main contractor Spec Projects Ltd worked initially to dismantle the damaged sections, installing temporary supports etc to enable reconstruction assessments to be carried out. The work then continued to fully reinstate the structure, and accommodation, internally, reinforcing and cleaning masonry facades installing new shopfronts to bring the building back to full use.

Work on this very restricted site was challenging but the building is now back forming a key part of an important section of Finchley Road in north London.

The scheme provides good quality, self-contained residential accommodation sub-divided into one and two bedroom apartments, located above the ground and basement level shopping facilities.
